WELCOME TO KURANUI COLLEGE

Kuranui College has a clearly defined community – the South Wairarapa.  It is a dynamic, rapidly changing and growing community.  Our students come from a variety of different backgrounds, both rural and urban, making our community modern and diverse.

Our co-educational college offers the warmth, encouragement and intimacy of a small school whilst being able to implement some of the most innovative teaching ideas in New Zealand.  The location and facilities are second to none and the teaching is of the very highest standard.

We are proud of the college’s academic, sporting and cultural achievements and our students’ commitment to these areas of college life.  Kuranui staff value high academic achievement above all else.  We see it as a primary responsibility to motivate our students to achieve their best and fulfil their potential.

In today’s 24:7 society, we believe that we must prepare our students for a future that is impossible to predict.  As the world of information technology rapidly develops, it is becoming a more and more complex task to teach students everything they need to know to equip them for their adult life. 

We believe it is critical that we teach our students to be flexible, life-long learners. They must be equipped with excellent literacy and numeracy skills and the techniques required to sift through the enormous amount of knowledge now available.  They must be capable of making informed judgements about information.  It is a priority of Kuranui College to ensure that our students receive these progressive, yet essential, skills by encouraging inspired and forward thinking 21st Century teaching. 

Kuranui believes that students should leave the college having developed the desire to strive for excellence, the need to be responsible and respectful members of society, to be creative and innovative, the ability to communicate ideas effectively and the wish to conduct their everyday lives with integrity.

Kuranui College offers a caring environment where our staff believe that each student is capable of something wonderful and heroic and that he or she will never exhaust his or her possibilities.
